Lord Fiifi Quayle, author of Pricing Uncertainty: Black–Scholes, Risk, and the Future of African Finance, has donated copies of the book to Wesley Girls’ High School as part of his continuing effort to put ideas, knowledge and African economic thought in the hands of young people.
Wesley Girls’ High School is one of Ghana’s leading second-cycle institutions and has produced generations of accomplished women, including the Vice President of Ghana and other prominent figures in public life, business and academia.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the school was the Assistant Headmaster in charge of Academics, Mr Edward Augustus Mensah, who expressed the school’s appreciation for the books.
Mr Mensah spoke about the school’s ongoing efforts to encourage students to read more widely and develop a stronger culture of learning beyond the classroom. He also noted that the school is currently working towards establishing an e-library, reflecting the growing importance of digital access to knowledge.
The conversation naturally connected with the broader objective of Africa Macro Intelligence (AMI), getting more young people interested in understanding Ghana, Africa and the forces shaping our economic future.
Lord Quayle subsequently committed to making the PDF edition of Pricing Uncertainty available to the school for inclusion in its developing e-library.
For Lord Quayle, the donation is about more than giving away books.
It is about putting ideas where they can grow.
A generation that understands economics, risk and the forces shaping Africa is better prepared to shape Africa’s future.
